High-quality products

We aim to ensure the high quality of our products by manufacturing the products with first-class and safe raw materials. Our MDF and HDF products have been issued the E1 and M1 emission classifications of building materials. The pine and spruce we use is PEFC-certified and our wood panels are CE-marked. Our wood products’ raw materials have quality classifications which define the permitted features for each type of wood raw material.

Responsible use of wood

All our pine and spruce products are PEFC-certified. PEFC is an international forest certification system promoting ecologically, socially and economically sustainable forestry throughout generations. The PEFC certification of our pine and spruce products means that the wood used for the product is sourced from sustainably managed forests and supervised locations.

Sustainable surface treatment

In surface treatment, we have wanted to invest in sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. For this reason, we only use environmentally friendly, water-soluble products in case of paints, lacquers and varnishes. Materials used in production – paints, glues and foils – do not form hazardous waste, any climate emissions, carbon dioxide emissions or VOC emissions.

Packaging material choices

We consider the environmental effects of the packaging materials we use.

As of now, the most convenient overall solution for packaging our products is polyethylene film.

  • The packaging informs the consumer about the features of the product, protects the product and also prevents the occurrence of unnecessary waste.
  • Additionally, the packaging is material-efficient: packaging with shrink wrap takes place with a minimal amount of material, and compact packages save space during transportation too.
  • The packaging can be recycled, and it is suitable for energy utilisation.

Key Flag Symbol – a sign of Finnish work

The Association for Finnish Work has awarded Ylivieska-based Maler Oy’s MDF mouldings and panels and wooden mouldings and panels the Key flag symbol in recognition of a product made in Finland.

The Key Flag is a sign of Finnish work. The symbol can be awarded to a product that has been made in Finland. In addition, the right to use Key Flag Symbol can be awarded to products with a minimum domestic content of 50 percent of its break-even cost. The calculation takes into consideration all costs related to the product.

Environmental impacts of the factory

Our factory is located in Ylivieska, in North Ostrobothnia. Our objective is to utilise our wood raw material as efficiently as possible. In production, the excess materials formed in the manufacturing of our main products are referred for other useful purposes or for energy production. We are almost self-sufficient in energy production; 100% renewable bioenergy is used for heating the factory.

We also take care of our environmental obligations in terms of waste management. All combustible wood-based waste – sawdust, wood chips, pallets, one-way pallets, bed timber, etc. are utilised for making pellets and for heating the factory. Metal waste is recycled, and energy waste is baled and incinerated for energy. Our aim is to ensure that the factory forms as little mixed waste as possible, which we cannot recycle ourselves, and which would then be forwarded to waste management plants.
